How can we deepen our care for the river?

How can we best steward this living ecosystem?

What does the river need from us?

Join us as we create a vision for what this critical watershed can be.

The Little River is a natural corridor that runs from from Belfast to the Penobscot Bay. The river, woods and accompanying hiking trail are beloved by many humans and are home to birds, fish, turtles, frogs, snakes, butterflies, trees, mushrooms, plants, raccoons, bees, beavers and many others.

As the seriousness of the climate crisis, species loss and destruction of our home planet Earth becomes more clear every day we feel urgently called to honor and love the river and its kin as living beings whose survival and future is tied to our own.

After 4 years the proposed Nordic salmon factory has not been built and we continue to hold hope and belief that it never will be. We also anticipate that at some point in the future the 42 acres of land Nordic purchased in 2021 adjacent to the Little River will become available for new ownership. We are planting seeds for that time. Regardless of what happens with the Nordic project the river will continue to flow and support life; we are committed to supporting the life of the river.
